Rich Beef and Tomato Gravy recipe

This recipe creates a lovely rich beef gravy that is perfect for serving with steak and mash, or even as a base for a bolognese. The cream added at the end just makes the recipe a little richer, but you can leave this out if you want.

  • 5 tbsp. tomato passata
  • 5 tbsp. tomato ketchup
  • 5 tbsp. beef stock
  • 2 tbsp. red wine
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. double cream
  • Black pepper to taste

  1. Mix together the passata, ketchup, beef stock, red wine, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce in a saucepan.

  2. Bring to the boil and then season with pepper. Cook for ten minutes or so. Stir in the double cream before serving.

Add a little freshly chopped basil to this gravy to make the flavours slightly more Mediterranean. This recipe serves 4.
